Felix Fabricius Knutsen

Master’s student in Information Systems at the University of Agder, finishing in June 2027

I study information systems and care about how technology, digital transformation and user-centred design can meet real needs in organisations.

Looking for a full-time role where organisations, information systems and digital transformation meet. Flexible start date. Based in Agder, open to relocating.

Now: Officer of the learning environment at Studentorganisasjonen i Agder (50%) alongside my master’s, and board member of NITO Studentene.

Between the system and the people

I hold a bachelor’s degree in IT and Information Systems and am now studying for a master’s in Information Systems at UiA. The interest started with coding and UI/UX design at upper secondary school.

Internships at Phonero and Kristiansand kommune have given me experience with user interviews, production code and mapping work processes. They have made me more interested in what happens around the technology: how the work is really done, what users need, and what it takes for a new solution to be adopted. That is what I want to keep working on.

People
User interviews in my bachelor’s thesis, and elected roles representing students.
Process
Requirements work in my bachelor’s thesis, and mapping work processes during my internship at Kristiansand kommune.
Technology
React, TypeScript and GraphQL at Phonero, in my internship and thesis. React and TypeScript also in my own projects, such as the STA prototype and this website. C# and .NET from my studies and project work, SQL and PostgreSQL from the database courses.

Professional interests Digital transformation, information systems, user-centred design, process improvement, innovation and artificial intelligence.

Selected work

Three projects: what the task was, how we worked, and what I did myself.

Phonero

Bachelor’s thesis, team of three

Phonero’s new equipment list: from legacy to native

Business customers had long complained about the old equipment list: it was cumbersome, full of incorrect records and needed manual work. We built a new list in the Din Bedrift self-service portal, where devices are added automatically through the SIM card and the overview is organised by the person who holds the equipment.

My role Group leader and the team’s contact with Phonero. I led the development phase and wrote most of the code, front end and back end.

What we did, step by step

  1. 1Interviews and prioritiesInterviews with the customer service team and a MoSCoW prioritisation before any design or code.
  2. 2Design in FigmaDesigns built from Phonero’s own UX component library.
  3. 3Development in sprintsReact, TypeScript and GraphQL, in Phonero’s own technology stack.

stastudent.no

Own initiative, in progress

A student website that is easy to use and easy to update

I heard how hard the old Studentorganisasjonen i Agder website was to update and use, and how hard it was to find information on it. So I am building a new version designed to be easy to use, easy to maintain and to last.

What I did, step by step

  1. 1Build in Next.jsPages for elected positions, documents, the Student Parliament, news and search, in React and TypeScript.
  2. 2Port to WordPressA theme and plugin with custom content types, so the board can edit content without writing code.
  3. 3Migrate and documentPrepared the migration of news articles and pages, and documented architecture, deployment and editing.

The documents page in the prototype, as it appears on stastudent.vercel.app.
Outcome
A working prototype. It will be tested and approved by the STA board, and the plan is for it to replace the current website after that.

Technology: Next.js, React, TypeScript, WordPress, PHP

Kristiansand kommune

Master’s internship, technology team in planning and building services

Scouting for digitalisation opportunities in planning and building

Six months as an innovation scout with a fellow student. Our job was to understand how the department works, map technology and solutions, and bring in good ideas from other municipalities, with a particular focus on digital twins.

What we did, step by step

  1. 1Observe and understandObserved work processes and took part in meetings with other departments and external partners.
  2. 2Map solutionsResearched professional systems for planning and building, and solutions and innovation projects in other municipalities.
  3. 3Digital twinsResearched digital twins and how they could be used in the department’s work.
What I took away
Innovation in the public sector has to fit regulations, political frameworks and the organisation. It is often about smaller improvements that make everyday work easier for staff and services better for residents, rather than big technology shifts.

Leadership and elected roles

Alongside my studies I have held elected roles representing other students, with responsibility for planning and delivery.

Current role

Officer of the learning environment

Studentorganisasjonen i Agder (STA)

A paid, elected board position at 50%, alongside my master’s studies. STA represents the students at UiA, and my main responsibilities are learning environment policy, being the contact for student representatives, and sustainability and the environment.
